East Asia (specifically, Korea, Japan, and China) can be considered as one of the most fashion-conscious regions in the world. The region's culture is known for its emphasis on appearance, and self-presentation to others. The focus on outward appearance is a possible influence on the region's strong interest and developments in fashion. East Asians are also known to have skills in dexterity or son jeju ("hand talent") as it is called in Korean. This could also be a factor in East Asians' recent successes in the fashion industry. All three countries share the belief that fashion is important however, obviously, they have their own fashion trends which reflect their unique cultures and national characteristics.

Self Evaluation

How successful do you think you conveyed your research to your audience?
I tried to make it easy to read, tried not to use specific terms that I even didn't understand. Also, I tried to put a lot of images and video so that it won't seem like a regular research paper.

What would have made your presentation more successful?
First of all, the fact that wikispaces didn't allow me to do much with the page really frustrated me. So with the titles and other designs, I had to use pages and screen shot them piece by piece and paste it back to the page. Also I think it would have been better if I found more interesting information about China. Some how, out of the three countries, China seemed to be the one that really didn't have a distinctive fashion trend (from what I researched), maybe if I spent more time on it I would have probably found something but I spent most of my time on the other two countries which led China to be the last one to finish.

How successful do you think your technology-based materials were in conveying your research?
I hope that the wiki pages would be clear for my audiences to read. I divided the research into three parts and made three different links so they will be clear to read.

What would have made your technology-based materials more successful?
I believe citation could be one thing that I should have worked on. I realized that I only cited my work on the bottom of the page when I should have also labeled where I used the information. Also, I believe videos are more fun to watch then images thus, I should have found more video clips about my topic.

When I first started to research about fashion, I already knew some information about Korea however, was clueless about the other two countries. During that time, all I knew that they all wear westernized clothing and for Japan, sometimes dress up as manga characters. However. through my research I realized that that there was a specific name for the costumes in Japan and also noticed that China was even more "brand" centralized then Korea.
